Different people will lose weight in different areas at different rates, so it can be had to predict or force yourself to lose weight in any given area. Instead, your main focus should be all around weight loss, which will lead to losing weight around your waist and everywhere else for that matter.

Even if it seems like you only lose weight in certains areas like your hips for example, you are in fact losing weight all around your body, it just might be more noticeable around your hips. Your body isn't going to just decide that your waistline is too big and only focus on that area. It doesn't work like that. You have to put in enough effort for weight loss and fat burning to kick in all around your body, rather than just where you think it will make you look better.

For starters, be consistent with you diet. Don't randomly decide that you don't want to follow your diet today. That will only lead to confusion when you can't seem to shed any pounds. Your body needs time for it to adjust to any new eating habits, especially if they are drastically different then what you are used to. Dieting only on certain days will only make it take longer for you to achieve your desired weight, so have some patience and discipline when it comes to actually following the diet you have decided to use.

Eat less, but do it strategically. Eat smaller meals but eat at regular time intervals over the course of your day. This keeps your metabolism active all throughout the day, which leads to more regular weight loss over time. You will also then to feel more energized with smaller, more frequent meals then when you eating three big meals a day. This is good even for people who aren't trying to lose much weight, as everyone could use more energy during their daily activities.

Exercise is important and probably one of the hardest things to get yourself to do sometimes. But you got to do it if you want to lose weight without waiting forever for it to happen. Burning those calories will take inches off your waistline before you know it, you just have to keep up with your workout routine and not skip out on exercises. Obviously if you are very tired, you shouldn't overwork and exhaust yourself, but try to push yourself to work out at least 4 times a week. You don't even have to drive to the gym. You can walk or run around your neighborhood, or do exercises on the floor of your room too. You should focus on the exercises that actually make you break a sweat, as those are the ones that burn the most calories per minute. Try to make your exercises at least 30 minute sessions if you can. Also, don't let any interruptions get in the way of your workout.

Eating organic foods can work too. Those chemicals can easily add many pounds to your waist over time and cause fat buildup exactly where you don't want it. Buying organic will make sure you won't consume any of those fattening chemicals in your diet. Only buy what you can afford however. They go broke buying expensive organic food!

Always remember to keep your fluids up. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, but don't go overboard. Some people have issues with drinking water because their bodies retain too much of it, causing them to gain weight. All that extra weight is really just water that your body hasn't gotten rid of yet.

These tips apply to any part of your body, not just the waist. Keep that in mind as you work towards your perfect body size.
